Summerset’s COVID-19 Policies
We know many of you are concerned about the spread of COVID-19 (the new coronavirus) and how it may impact us here. During this unprecedented time, there is nothing more important to us than the health and well-being of the people who live and work at our communities and that guides all of our decisions.
We screen all residents who receive care services for fever each day and all residents will be screened if they leave and return to the community. All residents can also be temperature checked any time upon request. We have also implemented the following procedures and policies, which stem from the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, Community Care Licensing and public health officials.
Visitors:
It is now necessary to implement a no visitor policy at the community unless it is essential (hospice.) All essential visitors and staff will be screened upon entry. If you need to bring supplies or essentials to a resident, we will be able to get them from you outside the community and deliver them to the resident’s apartment.
Transportation:
We will now be limiting transportation to medically essential appointments. If you have medical appointments that are not critical, such as an annual checkup, we ask that you reschedule.
Dining:
The Assisted Living Dining Room is now closed. Residents are encouraged to have their meals in their apartments. They can order from a modified menu and we will provide tray service.
Activities:
All communal activities have been suspended until further notice. Our Activity Team has put together packets of word searches, Zen coloring pages and other mentally stimulating activities for residents to work on. We also have books, games, cards and movies available. We will ensure that our residents are actively engaged within their apartments.
Salon:
Our salon will be closed until further notice.
Leaving the Community:
Residents have the right to leave the community, but it is strongly discouraged. The Centers for Disease Control recommends that people over 60 and those with any health conditions stay away from gatherings, shopping centers etc. and practice social distancing. All residents who leave the community must be screened upon returning.
We understand that some of these measures may provide a challenge to residents and their family members, but we want you to know that we are committed to doing everything we can to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This virus demands an aggressive approach and as we have mentioned, health officials stress the importance of social distancing whenever possible.
We thank our residents, families and staff for their cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure the safety and well-being of all who live in, work at and visit our communities.
