New Years Resolutions and Goals for 2019
The new year is upon us, and however you decide to welcome in 2019, do it with open arms. The end of one year and the beginning of a new one always gives us an opportunity to hit the reset button on goals we hoped to achieve this past year but were not able to.
We all strive to achieve the most out of life we can. People often tend to set goals a bit high at the beginning of the year, and being realistic of what we are capable of will help us achieve them easier.
For Seniors, some 2019 goal ideas could be:
Health/Fitness
As we age, this could be a bit more difficult, but staying active in one form or another is essential for a happier and healthier outlook. No need to engage in strenuous activities as there are many alternatives. A walk around the block, dancing to your favorite song or even gardening helps keep you active.
Help reduce your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases by giving yourself a 1/2 hour daily dose of an active activity.
Eating/Cooking
Always wanted to be a pastry chef? Or perhaps a particular cuisine has you intrigued? Why not set a goal not only to eat healthy, but learn new skills in the kitchen. Not only will it be fun, keep your mind fresh, it will be good for you with the fresh ingredients. Learning how to balance fruits, vegetables, fish and grains and create new recipes with them will provide a sense of accomplishment.
Connect
Often times, as we age, we find it easier to decline social invitations, or activities and just stay in. It is important to try and stay active socially to help you stay connected socially. If you can participate in a group activity, set a goal to commit to do it at least once a month. Not only will you be active, but you will connected and potentially make new friends along the way.
Have a Happy and Joyous 2019!
