Happy Easter from Summerset Senior Living
With Easter approaching, we sometimes realize that the older we get, the more potential stress holidays can sometimes bring.
Families celebrate Easter in so many different ways. Ranging anywhere from Easter egg hunts, filling meals and/or religious services. Sometimes however the stress of the holidays can sometimes cause feelings to potentially be hurt if everyone has a differing opinion of how to celebrate. It is important to remember that the lives of our aging parents/grandparents bring with them some valued traditions and/or thoughts on how to celebrate holidays.
Adult children, grandchildren and family caregivers should be cognizant to work towards making holidays worth celebrating and creating memories. Time with family can be the much-needed “emotional lift” that older individuals need to keep the smiles on their faces and warmth in their hearts.
Organizing egg coloring, basket making, or simply preparing family recipes that have been passed down through generations can brighten the spirits for aging loved ones.
If family is not accessible in person, scheduling a time on skype or another virtual communication tool is a great alternative to share these activities still together.
Wishing you and your family/loved ones an enjoyable Easter holiday!
